It was when my oldest was born.
Never have I had such a feeling which had started 24 hours earlier. I was seven months pregnant and she was growing on grace. A beautiful baby girl so much expected after being a shocking surprise, but that is a story for another essay.
On one Friday morning I was feeling a little dizzy, lazy and hot. I was suffering from placental abruption since my fifth month of pregnancy, so seeing blood during my pee time was not news. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Nothing wrong. Or at least boundering normality.
I took a shower around 10pm and went to bed. My husband is a DJ and that night was not different. He arrived around 3 am and went to bed almost right away. Around 5 o’clock I felt like going to the bathroom and when I touched the sheet to swirl myself, it was all wet. “Gosh, I had already peed” I thought. So, I quietly rolled down the bed and went to the bathroom and how frightening was it when I saw my hands! It looked like a horror movie. Did I killed my husband while sleeping??? Just kidding. I knew it was me. I immediately came back as fast as I could, which was as stepping on eggs, and called my husband. After another shower to remove most of the smell of blood on me, we rushed to the hospital and then my real horror began. I could die due to the hemorraghe, my unborn daughter could die because of the lack of oxigen or we both could survive with sequelae. I had no thoughts. I was just a body who freezed and was praying for God. A blank mind.
At 10pm on that rainy Saturday night, my baby was born and sent immediately to the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) where she stayed for 28 days under intensive treatment to help her learn how to breath, suck and move without the machines’ help.
Now she is 12 years old and no sequela noted. Not as a medical condition. She’s stubborn, crazy for Stray Kids and sometimes vegetarian when it’s convenient for her. In the end, there was a happy end =)
