Jigsaw Reading Task
This reading task is aimed for K8 students (8th grade from Junior High) as learners of English as a foreign language, which means that students may have different language background in class, so vocabulary must be explained beforehand. Prepare two handouts of each text for distributing to the groups.
Instructions: Students must be divided in six groups, and each of them is going to read one text only. After reading the text, they have to explain for the whole class the story, writing down on the board 10 words from the text that could summarize it.
Students compare their versions of the story and talk about the differences and similarities of each story.
To complete the task, the group must come up with their own version of the story in no more than 250 words.
